Paul Post has been in the newspaper field for thirty years, the past fifteen with "The Saratogian" in Saratoga Springs, New York, where he has won numerous state and national writing awards. He is a frequent contributor to "Baseball Digest", "Sports Collector's Digest" and "Baseball America" and has written for a variety of environmental, public policy, travel and trade publications. He lives in Glens Falls, New York, and enjoys sports, travel and history.

Pro ball, at this point, was not an option for Biggio. Detroit Tigers scout Ralph DiLullo, the same scout who Seton Hall coach Mike Sheppard turned down years earlier, had visited the Biggio family to determine if the youngster would sign out of high school if drafted.
